Culto Short Film — 2018

Culto is the result of a collaboration with the amazingly talented producer and composer Pim van den Heuvel.

Together, we created a space for ourselves to play and experiment with design, music and animation. After playing with different concepts, we realized we could shape these explorations into a (very short) shortfilm.

Concept, Illustration and Animation

I always found ancient tribes super interesting and beautiful, especially their rituals, clothes, masks and body-painting. For this particular project I also found inspiration in still nature photography, the art of Moebius and symbolic geometry.

I was looking for a very dark, mysterious, enigmatic and colorful mood for this piece, I also wanted to add more cinematography to my compositions, so I did a lot of research of photography, paintings and illustrations that I like.

I found awesome references in the work of Francisco de Goya, Rafael Mayani, Benoit Paillé, Øystein Sture Aspelund and other amazing artists!
